Lightbulb We need a charity

No, I don't mean for one of you guys!!! LOL

We need to put some of the chapter funds into a charity.

I would like to see some suggestions and then we can take all of the suggestions and put them to a vote.
I would like to do something good with the surplus of funds in the chapter account.

we should also recuit a member of the chapter to solicit (sp) other chapters to donate.

Maybe that NW chapter will actually do something besides pad there post count!!! LOL
Just trying to get the pot stirred up guys, from the NW chapter!!!!!!!!

I will start by suggesting:
1. Buying some little get happy toys for the some of the children that are in the hospital.

2. Or a donation to kids that have no parents.

3. Or do a fund raiser supported by the chapter fund to help a family out that can not provide for their kids.

These are just suggestions. As you can see, I have a real soft spot for kids that are in a situation because of bad luck, or abusive parents.

Let's do something for these guys!!!
Mark

The food bank is one I think of. Just hate to think of anyone in America let alone Kansas going hungry. I remember some early years with lots of mac n cheese to strech the food budget but I never really went hungry. The Childrens home is also very good. I know toys for kids is feel good stuff but maybe we could help people in Kansas with the basic needs like clothes and food to eat. Just an idea.

I like the idea of doing something with the surplus. The food bank is a good one for I too don't like to see anyone go hungry. Kids are also very special especiallay the ones that have no food or cloths and the ones that are in the hospitals scared and hurting. Lets see whaat we can come up with.

We might want to look at something that provides services or is state wide as the chapter covers the whole state. I don't have anything in mind, but just a suggestion.

Well, here is my 2 cents.......

Any kids charity is great, there are plenty of programs out there for kids that are low income, hungry, abused etc. To see any of this happen to a little kid that can't do anything about it just urns my stomac (sp).

Also, my big thing is the military. I lost a grandfather and brother who gave thier life to defend our freedom. So that is kinda a big deal for me.

Are we wanting something local only?? If so, then I would suggest the food bank, or battered women's & childrens homes.... if you don't care if it's local, St Jude's Childrens Hospital is something I always try to support when I can.

Holiday Inn's charity is Give Kids the World. You can find more info about it here. They work with terminal kids.

They all sound great to me. I personally like the Alzheiemrs of Kansas City Charity. My grandmother died of alzheiemers and parkinsons (as most of you know) recently so I am kind of partial to it. I am game for anything though.
