Am I missing something? My truck has 10,000 miles on it. I still have yet to identify a REGEN. MPG is a tad worse than what I got on two 6.0's. My warranty still has 90,000 miles or 4 years to go. I try to read this forum several times a week and I cannot remember the last bad post about a regen problem. I am extremely happy with my truck and really hope the auto industry gets their financial problems solved. What am I missing?
It will definately give you a couple mpgs over the stock setup and keep the large amounts of fuel that seem to be getting into the oil due to the regen process. But there really is no way to justify doing it if you are that happy with the truck!
I have 1800 miles on my truck job 3 with the latest flash (the flash about 2 months ago that they stopped and now started again. My truck took the flash) and have not noticed, felt, or seen a regen.
I've got just over 10,000 miles on my 450 and am aware of only 4 regens. I love the truck also; it does everything I bought it for and does it well.
I don't understand the guys that buy a truck designed with power to tow and haul, then they put a lift on and oversize tires, drive at 80+ and then complain about the mileage.
MPG's is most peoples reason when it comes to removing the DPF, it does cause considerable amounts of back pressure especially during acceleration. My main reason for removing the filter was to get rid of that fire starter underneath the truck. I drive off-road in tall dry grass everyday while working on my ranch and I have no intentions on letting it catch fire. I had one very close call when the filter was on the truck, it went into regen and the grass underneath the DPF was smoking and the grass around the tailpipe was black.
Yes, replacement or cleaning. I have seen a machine for cleaning but im sure either way they hit you up for a pretty penny. If i had an 6.4 i would do it becuase i want my engine to be as pure as possible. Burn fuel, produced power, exhaust. The DPF seems to throw off the natural equilibrium of things to me lol. Also, many have problems with backpressure, MPG (which is a huge part why people get a DIESEL over a GAS engine! SO YES! people can complain about getting low MPG on a diesel! its not acceptable, look at 6.7 and 6.6 litre engines. They show significantly better mileage), regans starting and stopping at wrong times, regans lasting to long, electrical problemsrelated to regans, Exhaust heat issues and off road truck use, need i list more?

It's a "To each their own" issue. I had a killer 05 F150 that I absolutely LOVED. But, traded it in for my 08 F350. Not because my F150 didn't fulfill my needs. But, simply, didn't fulfill my desires to have a big bad *** truck.
My F150 and F350 ran the EXACT same tires (read sig) and my F150 got at least 5 MPG better then my F350 does. That's a problem. Especially when Diesel is more expensive then regular unleaded. And even more especially when Diesel was nearly $5.00 a gallon just a few short months ago.
Once the truck is purchased it is a matter of..your truck, your money, your choice any consequence is on you. The DPF and all the emmission equipment is part of the Federal mandated EPA emmission standards. They are required by law. My truck does everything I want and need it to do so my choice is to leave it stock. We can all make our own choices then live with the result.
Still happy with a stock truck. I have accepted the 13mpg as what it is and am not looking for any more. Truck is driven daily and has exibited zero problems since it's purchase in May of 07. Milage is now @ 42K and counting
I was pushing snow with my F350 and it displayed "Cleaning Exhaust Filter" 3 times in 10 hours. I take it this is far too often. I just had my truck in to the dealer early last week cause it was going in and out of 4x4. It was pissing me off bad. Getting ready for snow and the darn thing won't stay in 4 wheel!! They took it in and warmed it up. Said probably had a little condensation in the vacuum line that puts it in 4 wheel. When it got warmed up it evaporated and freed it up. Freekin 20,000 miles and had more problems with it than trucks i've had with 120,000 miles on em. (ranting)
Anyway, I guess I should take it back to them and tell them about my frequent regens huh?
