Temp gauge problems

Well my temp gauge just stopped working. Does anyone know how to tell if it's the gauge or the sending unit. Thanks in advance. BTW it's an '88

i had this issue and fixed it by pullin the dash apart and disconnecting the plug in the back of the cluster and cleaning the connections and plugging it back in.

I just went to napa and got a new sending unit to fix mine.

Unhook the wire at the sending unit and ground it the guage will read high if it does it is your sending unit. If your guage still does not move you have a guage problem.
