It`s not that the JD would be that bad but more like the turning circle with my Ford 800 is unbelievable. If I used the wheel brakes it would almost be as sharp my Bobcat. The only tractor that might be close would be one with a tricycle front axle similar to a Farmall M.
This doesn`t seem to explain it very well.

The turning circle on the Ford 800 is a surprisingly large 17 ft which seems very big compared to what I have found out, the tractor is only about 8- ft long and can turn with the one rear wheel sitting in the same spot.
What`s the JD tricycle turning radius?
I`m sure a tricycle tractor wouldn`t be so great when cutting in my rolling farm yard as well in the front ditches as they`re fairly steep. I remember that the JD 755 wouldn`t do it and I didn`t really like trying and changing my shorts so often.
Im surprised your jd 755 wouldnt do that. I would guess it would have been able to run circles around a ford 800. I might be thinking of the 955 though, that might be a more comparible model.
JD tricycle turning radius is sharp, but it is just that, a tricycle!
For something comparable to yours, maybe looking at a model d, or a 320 or something like that.
Gotta remember JD was a tractor/equipment company, they made all sorts of different models of tractors for all sorts of different uses! They havent been around for like 170 years for nothing!
Rolling hills suck too. I have come close to rolling my case a few times. Always get er done though!
The JD 755 would turn sharper but the better stability, twice the power, much smoother ride of the larger tractor as well as being little higher up and more out of the dust convinced me to keep the Ford and sell the Deere.
JD was enough and the Ford much more......Hee, hee.
The JD was rated at 20 Japanese hp and the Ford at about 45-8 Canadian hp.
The riding comfort of the larger tractor made the most difference and it`s about as big as I can really go to get around most stuff in my yard.
The new retro New Holland tractor is interesting though.
Comfort and size were the deciding factors more than anything else..........
A little more power is nice but it`s not everything on this small a scale!
Today while plowing snow at the neighbours I noticed they`re restoring a Ford Jubilee tractor similar to my 800. I`m going to ask if I can borrow the tach drive gear so I can get one made.
I bought the complete tach set up including the cable and head @ $200 only to find out that this gear was missing and it`s not available locally from the dealer..........
You think thats hard, try finding a tach cable for a 1976 White Western Star with a transplanted 6V92 Detroit..... dad will never learn how to shift lol.
