Ive been keeping my eyes open for ya too sherm, and I think 1500 is a good deal.
I also think some guys believe they have solid gold parts or real diamonds in their paint of some of those old tractors, JD being the worse, ford not that far behind!
i could get the one afore mentioned for 1500... its actually not a terrible deal. it runs well and all, but i think I'll wait until i have a spot to put it where it can stay...
Buy it now and spin it over in the spring for $2,250, make some real easy money
Theres always time to make a cool 7-800 bucks! Seriously, selling a vehicle takes such little time.
Put add on kijiji takes about 5 minutes.
Answer a few emails while your messing around on fte, maybe another 5 minutes.
Show the tractor to someone after work, maybe half hour - 45 minutes.
So for around an hourish of extra personal time you could make 7-800 bucks maybe more!
I advertised a Ford 2N and the first person to come along bought it for $2,000. One phone call to place the ad in the paper and 15 minutes showing it. I didn`t have to say much, he was sold on it before he got here!
Im sure you could have "played the game" and held out for 2500 bucks easily, but thats what I was getting at in my previous post! You can usually make pretty good coin pretty easy!
When I bought that jeep from pbr this past summer, I think we had it for 2 weeks, and made 2 or 3 grand from it. Putting the add up took no time at all, replying to a few emails took no time, we showed the jeep to a few people, and I think the second person that drove it bought it.
Took maybe about an hour to show it to both people, and another half hour to drive it into town for the person that bought it (which we didnt have to do)
So for a few hours, and sitting on it for 2 weeks, it was well worth it.
A JD like most others is so much clumsier tractor. I`ve found that my Ford tractor can turn in the shadow of other tractors, it`s alot handy for yard work.
True, alot of the older JD's were built for heavy harder work in the fields, not as much as a lighter duty tractor, but you can get smaller ones that do just great with the small work!
My uncle has a slick model... a or ar or something like that (I cant recall the exact model JD) that would be about the best older acreage tractor i have ever seen! Dont know how it would turn, but I doubt it would be THAT bad!
