Just Bought The TSM Rear Disc Brake Conversion
I just ordered my kit. It was a little more than I really wanted to spend on the conversion but I dont have the time to pice it together and make the brakets. My rear brakes are toast on my truck now and I need everything in there. They are really nosiy and I would hate to take the drum off and see what is looks like in there right now So I just ordered the kit. I paid $450 for it shipped with calipers and all the hardware and stainless steel brake lines minus the rotors. I am going to buy the rotors in town so I dont have to pay the shipping on them. I could have done it cheaper but I just dont have to time to fab up brakets and all right now. I will let you all know how it goes and Ill try to take pics of the install while I go as long as my camera is still working by then.

Ya I called up there to order. The guy I talked to was Skip and he was very helpful. I called before hand to ask about hoses and the calipers and other stuff then called back to ordered. he called me back and told me they were out of rotors so he gave me the part nunmber to call around and see if I could find them in town. I did and that saved me on the shipping becuase I could buy them in town for the same price they had them for. So for 550 I will have a almost bolt on kit and that will save a lot of time and headace.

Let me know how you like the kit once you get it on your truck. Im thinking of converting my truck to rear discs when its time to replace the rear brakes which is actually pretty soon. Theres a few companys that sell rear disc conversion kits for these trucks but i dont think ive ever heard of anybody installing one of the kits so it will be nice to hear from somebody who has actually used the kit.

i don't have tsm's kit but i got blackbird's conversion kit. they're almost the same. you will not be disappointed with rear disks. they are fairly easy to install. i suggest getting new rear wheel seals while you're at it because you will have to pull the hubs if you want to take the drum backing plate off in 1 piece

550 as the tagret number-
rear drums- 51 each x2= 102
brake shoes- 57 a set
hardware kit- 45 per kit
wheel cylinders- 45 eachx2= 90
wheel seal- 33 eachx2= 66
so a true drum brake overhaul will cost you-360 bucks. and to convert to disc you are only spending an additional 190 bucks. not a bad trade off

Rear disc is great! I built my own and love them. I didn't spend much less than the numbers we are talking for kits. Does TSM still use the Chevy rotors that install behind the hub or do they use the Ford van rotors that slide over the hub?
