When i crack the injector line open on a 1992 7.3 then try to start the truck theres no start but i see fuel at the injectors now . OK should d i now close them ? and then try to start the truck ? or will it start with the lines cracked
???
1) loosen all 8 line nuts at the injectors (#1 needs two wrenches, one to work the line nut and one to hold the timing adapter under it from turning)
2) pull harness from IP, run wire from the positive terminal of oone battery to the FSS spade connector on the IP (this will cause the FSS to open, as if truck's running)
3) jump the starter relay on the fender and crank engine for no more than 15 seconds
4) inspect lines, snug down the ones that are visibly wet with fuel
5) jump the starter relay again and crank engine for about 10 seconds
6) tighten all line nuts, remove FSS jumper wire and plug stock harness back in
7) jump in cab, let the glowplugs do their thing, start engine, work the throttle so engine speed gradually increases to 2000 rpms and gradually decreases to idle, do that a few times, let her idle for a few minutes, bring her up to 2000 again, completely let off and let her drop straight to idle, repeat a few times, let her stabilize at idle, shut off, she's good.
The reason for unpluging the IP harness and jumping the FSS and the starter relay is because every time I turn on the ignition from the cab my glowplugs come alive, and since I'm not really starting the engine but just bleeding the lines the glowplugs just waste energy. If you have your glowplugs on a manual pushbutton switch and have bypassed the stock controller completely you do not have to do this, and can crank the engine from the cab with the ignition key.
All is well running like a champ i have a 5mph boost out of the fuel supply pump next project custom intake. You guys dont know blessing you have for helping your fellow man.
i belive you can just take some 4" pvc and route it wherever you want just keep in mind where your driving and in what conditions like if your doin alot of driving through mud or whatever.just keep that in mind when your routing but the cleaner the air the better i have herd of guys putting filters in the cowl in front of the windshield not sure how they did it though
I gone go for the front grill area theres a hole in the rad support. I havent deleted the soup bowl yet, can i just get another bottom filter holder ???? How did your bowl delete feel??
no power difference between the soup boul and no soup bowl. I deleted mine the easy way, used a lid from a 6.9 truck (no soup bowl), also did the same setup on my buddy's 86 by keeping his lid but ditching the lower box for a 7.3 unit (larger intake opening than the 6.9).
