i'm trying to change my rotors on my 93 f-150 4x4, and am baffled on disassembling the 5 screw auto hubs. i can't find anygood posts on these hubs. could anyone help me out here?
ok now there should be a little metal clip take that off then the will be a wire you'll need to take needle nose and compress that while pulling the hub then there is going to be a c-clip remove that then take the washer out that is behind the c-clip after that you'll need a special socket that cost $16 dollars at advance it has 4 prongs on it once you get the socket you can take off the spindle nut ater that there sould be a spacer remove it then use the socket and remove the other nut that is holding on the wheel bearing after that it should just slide off. i'm not on my computer so when i get home i'll give you a link that shows step by step instruction on how to do this
Their is a big snap ring inside the hub housing that holds the locking hub in. Its a pain to get out but if you use a small screwdriver you should be able to get it.
is the whole inner and outer hub assembly going to come out at once? and mndlawn, it is impossible for there to be a snap ring where you show, since that is where the inner gear slides forward and meshes with the outer.
Isn't there a round retainer ring where the yellow arrows are pointing in this picture?
If there is, you need to use a sharp pick and lift the ring out of the groove.
Then use something to pull the ring out of the groove. The ring will try to rotate in the groove so it can take sometime to get it out.
Then you screw two of the bolts back into the hub and use the bolts as a handle to pull the locking hub assembly out.
I have manual hubs and not auto locking hubs so I hope this info. is correct.

don't think so only the big red ring is all that needs to be removed to take the hub assembly out. i just did mine las week and didn't need to do anything like your desribing in the yellow arrows that might be to take the hub assembly apart
First post so i hope this works right. IRH2 i'm replacing rotors right now on the same exact truck and am stuck in the same spot. I had to stop due to sobriety issues but i remember alligning the teeth on the outside edge of the hub with the ring that slide over the spline. Theres two tabs on opposing ends of that ring(you can see tabs where the flat spot on the ring is at the top left of the photo). I used two small flat heads to pry the tabs outward and the ring slid right off exposing the splines. after that i had seen a snap ring or circlip in a groove around the splines and believe thats the next step. It's all a blur from there on.
ssquints i checked out the link to the bronco hubs and though very similar they were different. You would'nt happen to know where i can get an exploded view of the hubs for the 93 4x4?
I hope this posts runs long enough so i can get my rotors replaced. Theres so many variations of the ford hubs i seem to find every one but this type. IRH2 if you come up with something new please post it. I could use the help as well and it seems we're dealing with the same project. If you need, i just happen to have a brick of c4.
