I found a broken leaf on my rear spring, I really don't want to fork out alot of $$ for a new set. What are my options? The leaf is the last one in the stack before the helper spring,
Can I take out the same leaf on the other side to keep it level ?
At this point I would take out the same leaf to keep her on the road but spend the $400.00 for new springs and hardware. Remember these are almost 50 Years old. I orderd mine from Eaton springs they have everything and have regular and heavy duty springs. Call them tell them what you want, mine came within 2 weeks. I spent a total of $700.00 for both front and rear springs with hardware plus shipping. SAFTY FIRST and they do custom springs for lowering safely
Eaton springs Eaton Detroit Spring
Or try the link for leaf springs kansas above in your post, funny it is there I have never heard of them before
I had the same problem, but I had a parts truck,so I robed the parts I needed. Also since the old springs were sagging I beefed them up .Now my truck sits at the same height as new,and rides fine.

I had multiple leafs broken on my '58 rear and front I think a total of like 4 or 5 and only cost about $400 to have the four sets of leafs resprung and replaced. I didn't think that was to bad. I just took them to a shop near by that specializes in leaf springs and sandblasting. I guess that would be an option if there is any business like that near where you live. I live in southeast MN
Hey Bassn1 Ask yourself how long you plan on having this truck. Those springs are close to 50 yaers old and all have the same amount of wear and fatigue so if you remove a leaf the others will have the extra load and are more prone to breakage.
I would "spring" for a new set…. Mine only cost me a lil under 600.00 bucks. That was for all four, brand new with new U bolts, bushings and shackles and all new bolts and nuts.
Cheers
Cyrus

Points well taken, Looks like I'm going for the new set. The truck is down to the frame so it would be easier to do it now rather than wait until it's back together again.
JCWhitney sells Eaton springs, made in USA, and VERY cheap. At least for Bonus Built trucks, their front springs cataloged for F-1's are the lighter-duty units. There is an "optional" unit they sell that is stiffer. But very nice pieces for the price.
Got a quote from Eaton today and it's about $900 to replace both front and rear. That don't include shipping. I'm still checking locally. I think i'm going to replace the rear and just replace the bushings in the front for now.
