Just recently i have noticed that when i drive my truck there is a aweful hissing niose. I know that it is the exhaist backpressure valve but i thought that it was only suppose to work when the truck was warming up. It is doing it all the time. Any ideas?
check the "exhaust back pressure tube" for cracks or holes. i just went through the same thing as you. i took off the tube to try and clean it out and found that where the tube bends and i couldn't see it there was a big crack on the bend of the hose.
new hose=no hissing+better engine running when cold
where is the EBPV? and my EGT gauge quit working a little more help needed
It's were your exhaust hooks to your turbo there is a flap in the housing that closes to help with warm up,the actuator is under the turbo the lever is hard to see in the valley of the eng.but you can reach down there and give it a tap.
