Driver's door sensor.

I've been having an unusual problem. Well, when it rains outside the driver's door sensor doesn't work properly. It usually fixes itself after a couple of minutes, but it shows the driver's door constantly open. It's only the the driver's door. No problem when its dry out. Well after a pretty heavy down pore the door sensor is completely shot. Its been 2 days and it is still show my door is open. Anyone know a fix for this. I don't see any contact points, switches, buttons, or anything you would normally see as far as an door switch. I'm lost!

The switch is in the latch assembly inside the door. Some believe WD 40 can unstick them, but a new switch is $10-15 each.

I just took a can of WD40 and soaked the latch and sprayed it at a few different angles and I have been fine for over a year now. Have a rag to catch anything that leaks out of the bottom drain holes on the door.

Yeah the switch gets hung up in the ajar position and a lil lube frees it up.Just open the door and look at the side of the door, the latch mechanism that grabs the lil stub on the B-Pillar just needs some wd-40 sprayed at it and up inside that area from a couple different angles and all should be fine. I think the correct angel my be up and towards the outside edge of the door, but I may be wrong on that. Maybe try that and see if it helps and try other angles till it starts working?

I just started having this problem with my 03' F250. Wish I'd seen this thread yesterday. I didn't think of using WD40 but used white lithium grease instead. Hope I have similar luck as you guys!

White Lithium grease is good for lubricating, but I think in this case the benefit of WD40 is the 'WD' stand for water-dispersing and it sounds like that is what needed to be done. Now, once the WD40 does it's job, spraying lithium on it should prevent it from happening again because it is highly resistant to water.

Just a little tid-bit - that 'stub' is called a Nater Bolt

The problem with grease is it attracts dust and can solidify at low temps. I am not sure how low the temperature has to be to make lithium congeal to the point it hampers latch function, but it could be a problem. Just something to be aware of in places that get cold.

Freezing point of Dupont's White Lithium Grease is -18*C (that's just below 0*F)... I don't think freezing is that big of a concern. (here's the MSDS) - but I do agree it can attract dust.
