how much would it cost to lift a 1968 f100. where can i get a lift like this. How much would it cost. right now there are 31X10.5x15 on it. im looking to lift it at least 3 inches to 5.. any ideas??
crj2001, I lifted my 72 F-100 2x4 about 3". first I made a trip to the local junkyard for a set of camper special rear leaf springs, the added leafs give 1"lift approx. Then I found a stock set of lift blocks off a 67 - 72 F-1oo 4x4, these will give approx. 3" of lift and have the built in bumpstops at the correct height. Don't forget the U-bolts as your old ones will be too short, I had new ones built at a local ironworks shop.I am running Monroe air shocks and did not have to replace them with longer units.OK now the front,I had my I-beams modifyed at an offroad shop as follows. On my stock I-beams there is a 3" jog on the beam before the king pin, I had the shop cut the jog out of the I-beams then rework the beams so as to make the axles straight. The shock mount, spring perch and radius arm connections do not change, my brake lines were ok for length but I put new on anyway.I wanted to go with F-250 running gear, as F-250 drum brake setup from the kingpin out is the same as an F-100, I got what I wanted at the wrecking yard as well as a F-250 Dana 60 (72 or older) for the rear, which was a direct swap except for the rear yolk and the driveshaft. They make a u-joint with two different size caps that worked for me after the driveshaft was modifyed. They checked the front axles to make sure they were up to factory strengths after they fabbed them up.I had new F-350 springs installed, then a trip to the alignment shop and it was done.Make sure you have all new bushings installed when the axles are off. Now my truck sets about 3" higher in the back and about 4 1/2" higher in the front. This takes care of the Nosedive that was built into Ford trucks of this vintage Then I stuffed a set of 33x 12.50-16.5s all the way around without a hint of tire rub which gives another 3/4" of lift if you started with 31" tires. Good luck.
