Driving down the highway a while back, and while merging through a circle, I hear the sound of a heavy piece of metal bouncing off the pavement, i look in my mirror and see a flat piece of metal about 3 inches wide and about 12 or so inches long, i figured I just ran it over and kicked it up, but when i got to my house I realized that the back half of one of my leafs broke off just after the u bolt. I cant remember but i believe that it was the 3rd from the bottom and i think it is a 5 leaf stack. Either way, is this alright? Its been like this for a few months now and I havent had any problem. I wasnt too surprised when it happened because i guy I used to work with had the exact thing happen, same leaf, and broke in the same place. I assume that other people have had this happen. Well right now I have a 3" body lift and 1.5" front leveling coils, but I want to raise the back end up a little to get that angle back, so i was going to get an add-a-leaf set, but I dont want to install and add0aleaf set on the pack without fixing it. what should i do?

Replace the springs. Do you want to take the chance of your main leaf doing the same thing, thats a potential roll over. if you want to lift it anyhow, skyjacker has lift springs available for around the 350 dollar range.

Agree, replace 'em. Had one go in my '79 quite a few years ago, I think it was the same leaf and position, driver's side. Got my first set of "custom" built springs then! Have had the springs re-worked since then, but that was because I wanted it done and not due to breakage or failure.
