Hey guys, I need some help. I just bought a '68 that has seen better days. It has a 302 mated to what I'm told is an fmx transmission. I cant put the truck into reverse and it feels like it is already in high gear when I place it in drive. I would like to go to a C-4 or C-6. Which would be easier?
chopper, you most likely have a C4 in the truck. I think that the FMXs may be limited to FEs. One thing you can do is look at the dust cover on the bottom front of the tranny that is below the engine. The C4 has 4 bolts and the C6 has 6.

It is definatly an FMX. I don't think that I want to rebuild it. I'm more interested in replacing it with a C-4 or C-6. I'm just not sure which. Any recomendations?
