Hurst Shifter 4 Speed

Did Hurst make the shifters for the 73-79 F-Series trucks with a manual transmission 2wd? Does anyone have one if they do? I'd like to get some input as i'm looking to replace the stock shifter. Thanks!

I believe it depends on the manual transmission. Hurst made a shifter for relocating the 3-speed manual shift on the column to a floor shift. However, for the toploaders (Borg Warner T-18 4-speed & NP 435 4-speed), I don't think Hurst made a shifter.

I could be incorrect, if so, hopefully someone will come along with more information.

right on thanks for the info. I'm not sure they made one either but how do I know what kind of tranny I have? Is there any aftermarket shifters available?

I just looked on Summit Racing under Hurst shifters and did not see one for a 4-speed. I found the Hurst Mastershift for 3-speed which I have installed in my truck, but that was all.

I don't believe any manufacturers made an aftermarket shifter for these transmissions. Once again, I could be wrong.

In my 77, I have a Borg Warner T-18. I believe these were more common in the 2wd trucks, while the NP435 was more common in the 4wd trucks. But either drivetrain could have either tranny. On my door VIN tag the Trans code shows F which is the T-18. You might take a look at the tag and check the trans code listed.

I have not found an aftermarket shifter either for the t-18 , I just customized mine and shortened it which made for a quicker throw , check my gallery for a interior pic .

1978 F150 Is your truck a 4sp. granny 1st? I think, but could be wrong , but it would be a T18 or a NP435 if it is a 4 sp with a granny 1st gear. The quick, easy way to tell them apart is look at the shifter housing. T-18 = cast iron, and the NP435 will be aluminum.

It is the 4 speed with the 1st gear granny. So there is no aftermarket shifter then right?
