hey i have a 1970 f100 3 on the tree i would like to do the conversion to floor shifter... hurst has the indy and the master shifter, I've read the indy shifter is of poorer quality and the master shifter is better quality and is worth the extra cost... and is it possible to get a comp plus and make it fit?? or another brand?
Don't go with Mr. Gasket....it is a loooonnnngggg way from first to second....still better than worn our column I had but will eventually go to Hurst Indy Truck
I've got the Indy shifter in mine. It's great! By My personal preference I removed all the locking hardware, so it's basically just a lever to move the shift linkage. But it's still great!
yah i have seen mixed views on the indy shifter, i just dont want to buy a headache on it. but talking to the local guy he said itll work. what is the big differnce between the indy shifter and the mastershifter any ways?
I don't think you can go wrong with the Indy. I absolutely love mine.
As far as the difference between the two, I just looked at each one on summit and,,,,,,, it beats the heck outta me......
There is a difference, but not sure which is which. The cheapo thing with two arms hanging down
Like this: JUNK
The GOOD version looks like this:
I used to use Hurst Indy 4spd shifters all the time in my hot rods. They came with generic mounts (to fit anything) and were cheaper then the more specific Hurst Comp Plus model.
