Normal temps. Well my EGT were 600 going down the highway with no load, stock. My trans temp was around 160-170 going down the highway with no load stock. You will need gauges to find what your temps will be. But that is a good idea for even a stock truck.
I have every intention of installing gauges once I pick up a truck. Those along with a 6637 and the CCV mod will probably be among my first mods to the truck.
I'll probably end up doing a lot of trailering stuff around with the truck so knowing what temps are normal would be a good idea.
And I'm supposed to go look at the truck this weekend.

This would be a nice addition to your first few mods. I love mine. click here
Welcome to FTE. Rick has got you covered. Tranny temps normally run about 60-100 degrees over ambient temperature once the truck is warmed up to operating temps. Tranny's don't like getting above 230 or so then fluid starts to break down. EGT's running empty cruising is 600-700 degrees. Redline is 1250 degrees. Don't want to stay above that temp for very long.
My brother was an active member here for a while. He's got a 99 F350 that he doesn't drive anymore because he commutes to and from college. He put an exhaust onto it that sounds awesome as far as I'm concerned. I think he found it through here or pure diesel power or something. I'll have to ask him.
I forget his username now. i think it was something like PwrStrokinit.
Truck I'm lookin at is an early 99 F350 4x4 138k miles auto trans with a spray in bed liner and obviously a 7.3 for power. It's got a regular pickup box on it and the guy already told me it's got a dent in the passenger side of the bed. I figure 500$ or so and a body shop should have it good as new. The guy is asking $8700, but he says the bank still owns it and he's willing to negotiate on price. Which means to me that he can't afford the payments and he's trying to sell it so it doesn't get repo'd. I already got an OASIS report on it and nothing seems out of the ordinary.
My brother ran his truck with straight pipes for a while. He said that since the turbo was after the exhaust valve of the cylinder it was legally considered a muffler.
