Mud Tires

hey fellow FORD lovers. just a quick question on tires. i am looking for a 35x12.50x15 mud terrain to put on my '75. i have it narrowed down to the B F Goodrich mud terrain t/a ko and the General grabber mud terrain. i like both. i have a budget of 750 dollars to buy the tires, have them mounted/balanced and installed onto my truck. so if anyone has anything to say about either tire or any suggestions for another brand. let me know.

BFG's Are great! while they last. I have General's on my truck now, there ok.

I am looking for some Wild country's now. I had some on my 92 f-150 and they outlasted the bfg's by 20,000 miles. it's just hard to find them.

if you can find them. try them. unless they have made some big changes in the last few years. they are worth it.

thats what i am probably going with is the BFG. but i just got back from muddin today on the tank trails here ar quantico marine corps base and i kinda dont want to get rid of my 16x38.5x15 super swamper TSLs. i love em and didnt get stuck once. so does anyone know a good place to get super swampers for cheep lol. i know i just toatlly changed my mind but i know the mud terrains wont be crap compared to the swampers. plus i really DONT want to go down in size but my 38s rub now so id have to go with a body lift to get them to fit. thats another hundred bucks. any info on tire places on line would be a great help.

Hey FordManiac,

You were mudding at the tank trails at quantico? I live pretty close to there. Is that legal? Or do you need to know somebody to get in or something. My dad is active duty military, so getting on the base isnt a problem for me. Is that something I could check out? Thanks.

alls you have to do is call range control to see what areas they are training in, there are miles of trails so its not hard to find one that they arent training in.its a ton of fun. the trails and mud holes kick butt. my e-mail is fordx4redneck(No Email Addresses In Posts!). i just want to fix my hubs then ill probably go agin, what kind of truck do you have, stock trucks can do it but in order to have fun you need something lifted and with GOOD mud tires. shoot me an e-mail and well go.

Wow, what a small world! I live just off 610W in Stafford, VA. I've been on those Quantico tank trails and it's possible to lose an entire vehicle in some of the mud holes!!:-) We never bothered to ask permission and just stayed away from the impact areas, guess I'm lucky we didn't get caught or stuck. I haven't lifted this new truck yet, gotta wait until the factory meats wear down a little or just quit spending money on other toys for a little while:-) My email address is jgrove@adelphia.net and I'd love to get together with other Ford 4x4 lovers to sling some mud, drink some beer, shoot some guns, catch some fish, chase some women, etc:-)

i am always up for that lol. we should all get to gether and go there some time. itl be fun. what tank trails have you been on? the one we went on yesterday was out by combat town and LZ 19. you are right, you can burry a truck VERY easily out there. i have seen it done. my buddy has a 69 bronco with 37 inch hummer tires on it and ive seen hin burry it to the middle of the windsheild out on that same trail.

I've been in the tank trails to the west of Lunga, areas 7A and 7B. There's an impact area in the middle of area 6, not a good place to play:-) I don't know how this new truck will handle those trails on factory tires but as long as I bring a strap.....

I'm hunting every Saturday until the end of the season and fishing most Sundays. I won't give up a hunting day to play in the mud but don't mind trading a fishing day.

Maybe we need to get the Quantico area folks together at the Sports Garden one evening to formulate a game plan?:-)

dont worry about that i have 2 20 foot lenghts of chain, a 30 ft strap, 20 ft strap, and a dozen cargo straps, 2 high lifts, and 2 come-a-longs. the area we went in were 16E and 16F. i wish i had a working winch though that would be nice. we would have a ton of fun.

2001_v10 we are going this weekend. as of right now we got 5 trucks together to go to the tank trails out at quantico. i sent you an e-mail last night about it. i can either e-mail the directions to my house on quantico or we can meet up near I-95 and the back gate to quantico around 1030 sunday morning. let me know if you want to go. id really like to see your truck and see what it can do in the mud. ive never wheeled with a new super duty ford befor. let me know man.

well i think i found the tires. a freind has some he might sell me. hopefully i can get them by this weekend so i can put them on my truck for this weekend.
