Welcome to FTE first.

IF your only doing shocks they do NOT change the alignment or have any affect on it so NO you don't need to get it aligned.

I agree, it's not a bad idea to have the alignment checked after shocks. However there should be any change to the front end that would require an alignment.

If your doing Bilstiens, when you get to the rears have a decent phillips screwdriver or awl handy. It's bear to do rears on your own, so I get the top started, compress the shock and as it extends down, I jam the screw driver through the axle mount hole into the shock bushing and out the other side of the mount. This holds the shock in place and lets you wiggle the bolt back in as you pry the shock to line up with the screwdriver.

I can't remember any tricks for the front. I think they were always pretty easy to put in, just difficult to work around the tire.

Thanks, I'm going to do this this week hopefully, if the weather co-operates. I tried to give rep points but it wouldn't let me.

Later...
Brewster...

You are so right about the rears,it took two of us to put those on,didn't think of the screwdriver trickThe fronts were easy,I just took off the wheels and they went in easy.
