If you don't care about warranty issues put in an aftermarket one. If you do, buy the one through Ford. Some people are reporting dealers giving them a hassle when aftermarket ones are installed. I went with the Ford one and it is okay but the aftermarket ones are just as good.
I went through Ford as well and although it is warrantied by them the price was quite a bit more than I could have gotten an aftermarket one for. Not to mention almost all the quality aftermarket ones these days are 2 way and the factory ones from Ford are not which is a pain if you don't have line of sight with the truck and are not sure if it started or not.
The ford has the delay as well. Line of sight is not necessary either in mine. It is only one way though but thats fine with me. i also paid cost on mine which was why I went that way.
Aftermarket also has delay for glow plugs; not sure about Ford's
Ford's does , on mine at least. The aftermarket one that I had put on my '06 F450 has the delay but I donot think that the glow plugs are activated, ie,rough startup's when cold using the remote start.
On my '08 Lariet with the outside key pad you can push the last two buttons once to lock the doors and push them 2 more times and it will activate the remote start cycle. Does anyone else's do this?
