i was gonna put this in the "front clip alignment" thread to keep from adding another thread, but it seemed off topic since the front clip is a whole other ballgame, and didnt wanna hijack the thread. anyway, i took my old door off, it was lined up good but had a HUGE dent that couldnt be popped out. So i bought a good straight door and put it on. i adjusted the door itself quite a bit and still cant get it lined up. Now even though i didnt move the hinges at all before i put the door on, would i still have to adjust them a little bit to make it work? i am talking about where the bolt to the cab.
tell me about getting them to line up! me and my dad spent a lot of time tweaking the doors on both sides! we bought brand new doors, the metal was really good, we can not get any good panels up here for a dentside, all are rotted out or the good ones are bolted to mint restored trucks so doors on both sides where a must, the previous owner had done a half *** resto in 1997 and did a butcher job on bondo on the doors and panels and used it on rust! so the new doors where the way to go and front fenders and drivers floor pan and cab corners and rear quarter panels!, and the doors where around 150 bucks Canadian, every thing else on the truck is American made, like intake and carb and brakes and what have you, and i have to admit for being offshore they where every bit as thick as the stock 70s panels, and they fit like nos! i am serious! you have to keep a eye out when buying panels, i hate offshore, but these panels where sweet! and i can't speak for all offshore panels, but mine are great! and the fender lines match the doors to a tee! and the whole dentside line looks sweet! straighter than factory! and gaps are perfect! the hinges are a pain to adjust but it can be done, i would suggest 2 guys to adjust panels! one to hold in place and the other to tighten bolts, and after some time it will all come out!
