Question Rausch Creek?

Me and my buddy are thinking about going to Rausch Creek Off Road Park in PA this upcoming Saturday. Has anyone ever been there or wanna go? If you have been there how bad were the trails?

Nice park......If you are taking you F250 expect some damage on the harder trails.....cant remember the trail system how they are rated.....most parks have it down to tire size and if you have lockers.Just check the trail rating and dont over judge the vehicles capabilities

Example of ratings

4wd Easy +

4wd
needed, some low range, suitable for novice drivers, street tires ok

Vehicles:

Any 4wd, including stock SUVs

4WD Moderate

4wd low range required, difficult terrain, some steep grades but no major rock obstacles, trail tires needed but stock suspension ok, challenge for novice drivers

Vehicles:

Any modified 4wd, stock SUVs with trail tires

4WD Challenging

Difficult trail, with obstacles, can be done with a stock vehicle with a very experienced driver but not recommended. This is the limit of a stock SUV. Occasional off-camber situations, some steep grades, may be water crossings or sand hazards.

Vehicles:

31 inch tires, at least a mild lift, rear locker or limited slip

4WD Hard

Difficult trail. Grades and off-camber situations may exceed 25 degrees, water crossings 2 feet deep, lots of rock crawling, body damage possible.

Vehicles:

Modified with lift, hard locker, 31 inch tires minimum

4WD Hard+

Tough trail. Lots of rocks, grades and off-camber situations may exceed 30 degrees, winch may be needed. Body damage or equipment failures likely.

Vehicles:

2 to 4 inch lift, 33" tires, locker in rear, limited slip or locker in front, winch, extra gears.

4WD Extreme

Very tough trail. Lots of rocks, grades and off-camber situations may exceed 30 degrees, winch may be needed. Body damage or equipment failures likely.

Vehicles:

4 inch lift or more, 35" or mre tires, lockers front and rear, winch, extra gears.

I usually hit the Extreme trails every time I am at a park.....so I dont really know how the easier stuff is......I have guided some stock jeeps around some really tough trails,If you cam hook up with some expirenced wheelers that know the park, ask them what they think....they might even take you out on harder stuff and spot you through it.Thats how I had 10 jeep following me around

no problem if you stay on the easy stuff....like I said try to meet some people there hanging around with some built trucks......more than likely they can tell you more about the other trails.I was there a few years ago.....hit there and Paragon in a weekend(Paragon was better)

Wheelbase.....just have to place your tires right so you dont smash a rocker or drive shaft......on harder sections have a couple people spotting for you outside the truck(have the most experienced giving you directions).......finesse goes a long way on rocks, throttle happy breaks stuff

Turns......I make 3 pt turns all the time in my toyota so I see that in your future as well.

There are probably some vids on you tube of the park .....to kinda get the idea what you are getting into.

dude, i hate you sooo much...lol i love rausch creek, been numerous times, my old 250 saw all trails including the rock creek glacier deposit. the only thing holding you back is ride height. i was running stock suspension, 3 inch body lift and 35's. i had no issues turning and left without a scratch on the paint. all it takes is a little premeditation before taking the obstacles on.....

while i went through the 5 foot mud pit in mine i recomend taking the bypass trail on your truck, also dont go through the pond either....the water was over my hood.

these are the only pics i have online, i have several hours of video but its all on the mini tapes and i have no way to get it on the computer. i also recomend losing the tailgate for the trip, you will need the extra flex since the stock suspension cant handle it.

the tool box probably wont do much good...lol if you break its because you BROKE. i would take a spare tire or 2, some of the rocks are VERY pointy and you will do some sliding especially this time of year. sidewalls dont like sharp rocks. i have spent 4 weekends there and never popped a tire but there is always a first time. as for the stacks... it depends on the trails, your stacks are ridiclously tall..lol probably wont hurt anything since the branches wont be low since the leaves are all gone. definatly take cb's it made our trips much more fun.

for parts i took- spare trans pan and spare oil products, 2 spare tires, several rolls of duct tape. rags, brakekleen, spare airfilter. 12 volt aircompressor(to fill tires back up) rope and twine, and a 30 foot tow strap (used frequently for several other people)

another thing to stay away from is an obstacle called "the frog" whatever you do stay away from it. when you look at it you will laugh, its looks tiny and not too bad but it ate a 78 250 high boy running 6 inches and 38.5 superswampers, over the hood. he blew the front axle and toasted the clutch trying to get out. i had to tow him back up the who dam mountain.
