The standard is about 25000 miles on a fuel filter, what ford recommends I don't know but if you change it at 20 to 25 K you can't go wrong and it is not that expensive.

You can download copies of your owners manual, maintenance manual, etc here.

I change mine every 15K. Ford suggests ever 30K or if you fall under their special operating conditions (you work your vehicle), it's every 15K.

gotta agree with svt2205 here.

alot of guys are finding absolutely filthy filters at 15,000. makes me wonder what a 30,000 mile filter looks like

Well i'm bad for this.. I just bought a filter for mine.. And i'm at 44,000 miles and this will be my first filter change. I have to change my oil and do my brakes so i'm going to do it all at the same time. I know from working at a dealership we did fuel filters at every 30,60,90 k's.... but i know 15k over that is not good... I will let you know what a 45K fuel filter looks like.

100% city driving + stupid driver + 400 crank HP = 12.5 to 13 MPG consistently

Gas filter change shouldn't increase mileage. The PCM uses the O2 sensors to keep the A/F ratio within range. Might cause the fuel pump to work a bit harder, but like DRLs the overall electrical load on the system is extremely small. If the filter has been neglected and injectors are dirty or partially clogged that can impact mileage (somewhat) due to poor atomization. Changing the filter isn't going to reverse the injector build up already there and get the mileage back - it'll simply help prevent it from getting worse. If the filter has been neglected get the injectors cleaned at the same time the filter is changed.

i did mine at 35K, there was no change in mileage. it does seem to have better response, but that is about it. yes there was a lot of crap that came out of it, i will be doing them at arouns 15k intervals now. very easy, 20 minuite job if you drag your feet and are very meticulous.
