All I can find is people asking the same question you are. You might have luck fitting a Carter YF/YFA carb, the 1BBL carb that was used on the automotive version of this engine. It'll have different vacuum hookups, and the choke will be different, but it may be bolt-on compatible otherwise. Take your carb to an Autozone or similar, ask for the carb for (example: 1976 F-100, 4.9L, manual, 4x2, federal spec, dealer A/C), and see if the mounting flanges match. Some of the Carter YF/YFA rebuilds are junk. A popular approach is to get a 1-2BBL adapter and use a Ford 21xx (2100, 2150, etc.) 2BBL carb, with the 1.08" venturi size. Simple, easy to tune, runs great, etc..
Have you tried some of the basic 1BBL debugging for these engines? Make sure mounting screws are tight & gaskets are OK? What symptoms are you seeing?
BTW- My local hotrod shop tracked down a comparable unit from ABC auto parts for around 150 bucks. This unit will be delivered in a few days and ill post part numbers and any issues
Yeah, that's a little more than loose screws. NationalCarburetor.com claims to rebuild most industrial 1bbl carbs for $148. Probably doesn't include shipping, but they do good work, and I'll bet they've seen plenty of these industrial Ford carbs before, given how prevalent they are.
Still really interested to know if it's compatible with a standard automotive YF/YFA.
