1999 Ranger, 3.0 liter, 100,500 miles, x-cab, automatic
My gear indicator is between the correct gear and the next. This just happened. Can anyone direct me to the post that describes the fix? I know it's in here somewhere. I'm searching without success. I think it involves getting under and tinkering with an adjuster on the trans linkage.
I got under and used the adjuster on the trans. All gears show correctly except Park which shows the P to the left of the pointer. Also troubling is the fact that I used up all the adjustment down there before locking the plastic clip back in place. Why did this even happen and all at once? The plastic dial under the steering column sounds like a better fix if I could only find it. Pulled off the top end of the kick panel and saw nothing remotely like an adjusting wheel. Anyone done this on a '99?
Never mind. I found the directions in an old post by Rockledge. Now if I can remove the "upper instrument panel steering column cover" it's all downhill.
