I haven't had a chance to put Michelin M/S tires on my Excursion yet, because the tires that came with it have been pretty good. However, I run Michelin M/S tires on my truck and had them on the Suburban previously and have been very happy with them.
I truely believe that the firestone steeltex 10 ply was the finest towing tire ever made unless you count the goodyear G-159. Before they discontinued the steeltex My crews put 65,000+ miles on many sets of them, some a/t and some road tread, all of them over loaded and abused. I bought two trucks in an auction once that had G-159 tires that outlasted the trucks. At that time the dealer told me that the G-159's were over twice the cost of the steeltex so I stuck with the stones on my work trucks and trailers. Now days we use coopers on the work trucks. its hard to say how they hold up because the fleet is near worn out. I did put a set of Toyo's on my 84 land cruiser and was very impressed with the fact that it didn't take any weight to balance them. they were perfect. There is a blue dot on the tire that is meant to be lined up with the valve stem. toyo guarantees if installed right their tires take a miniscule ammount if any to balance. I have bfg's on my 79 land cruiser because they are the only brand name that makes a 33-10.5-15 a/t. they have yet to show wear after 25,000 but there is little weight on them. I just put 18" Nitto terra graplers on my ex because I think they look cool and I think the name sounds cool therefore by association I am cool. LOL ...I got them cheap from a friend who bought them new and a week later did a lift and went bigger with tires and rims.
