I don't know anybody who has used them, but they get outrageous reviews on The Tirerack.http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....er+SilentArmor

I'm still partial towards Kumho for the most bang for the buck, but that's because I don't have many bucks!

I put them on last fall, my third set of tires. I wasn't really sure how I felt about the OEM Firestone Steeltechs until I put on BFG TA/KO's which I hated from the start. Terrible on ice noisy etc. Then I got the Goodyears. I love those tires, quiet, smooth ride and excellent traction.

I am trading my truck in on a new one and didn't want to give the dealer new tires so I told a friend he could have them for free if he paid for the swap/balance and put his original firestones on my truck. He loves them as much as I did.

The other day he hooked up his camper which is parked behind his house down by the barn. He has never been able to pull it up to the driveway without using four wheel drive, the tires always start to spin on the grass and then he has to put it in 4wd to get moving. With these tires it never spun and he got up there in 2wd. That sold him right there.

I just put some on mine. 265/70/17.

Only have a couple hundred miles so far but first impressions are:

They make more noise the the Perrellis they replaced, but the noise level is low and acceptable.

The do "wander" a bit but I believe that will fade with some miles on them.

They do have a good look. I have black wall out and like the profile. One minor personal thing is that the is way to much writing and scrolling on the sidewall for me. Just a minor deal.

Ride is good, balance is OK but still being worked on. I have 1 tire that needs to be changed out for balance issues. Had them as high as 85 mph and rode smooth overall.

Price was reasonable.

Anything with the word GOODYEAR and WRANGLER, I would stay away from. I had a terrible time with mine.

305/70/16 or 75/16 I cannot remember. They wore terrible. Lots of sway. I have learned it may have been too much tire for the 16x7 rim too.

Nice brand new, but after several thousand miles, they stunk. Of course the 4 ball joints ford had to replce did not help the wear issue.

My issue with GOODYEAR is the dry rot sidewalls. My 89 Bronco and my 93 f150 had GOODYEAR WRANGLERS and they dry rotted. My last trip to Hatteras this past April, I had to come home on a spare tire because the tire was so dry rotted it was splitting.

I have had excellant success with B F GOODRICH A/T. Noone can go wrong with those tires.

...were the dry-rotted tires? These are pretty old vehicles you mention.

Maybe they were "old" when bought...you've seen the problems recently about closed-code dating and old stock sold as new. Maybe?

Actually, I have been considering a set of the same tire...that's why I came here.

Vehicles at work were outfitted with the Wrangler "Pro" Silent Armor. I liked the look of the tread and have found several mentions of wandering when new...but you never know the condition of the vehicle, suspension, lift, inflation practice...all those questions that come to mind.

Just leaves me wondering how three people can rave about a tire being so good...

While another might rave that it is the worst tire imaginable!

(I know, everyone is an individual, etc. but in statistics you learn to treat the "outliers" (sp), those that lie outside the norm, with a different type of regard...not saying they're wrong, but why does their experience differ from that of so many others?)

All that said:

Anyone with experience with the "Pro" series Wranglers?

Silent Armor Pro - F-350 SWAY

I installed a set of PRO silent armor, stock size and rims on my 2003 F-350 Crewcab.
Though that they would get better in terms of wander and sway - Not happening after 4500 miles - Working with Goodyear service center now to get them replaced - Dealer drove truck & agreed that they felt weird - Steering input to truck at hwy miles feels like tire is overloaded, wet roads feels like losing control - If Goodyer doesn't replace, I'll be selling these tires for $1.00 & making sure I give Goodyear free advertising

Exactly what I read in user reviews, but "live people" seem to like them a lot (but they aren't country travelers...city drivers mostly). I don't want to perform a six or seven hundred dollar experiment for Goodyear....

I guess I'll pass on them....while you'll have to pass them on!

Replaced Silent Armor

Dealer replaced my Pro silent armor tires on my 2003 F-350, cost me about 50$ for tread wear/balancing.
Wrangler SR/A's installed, truck handles like it did when new. To be fair with Silent armor tires, other than the sway going around curves and at freeway speeds, tire had great hookup in wet and snow...sway though & my perception of handling and control were not acceptable - someone else might be just fine with the sway feel...

Thought i'd bump this thread and see for those of you that did get these tires how they are still working?

Thinking about putting a new set on tomorrow. Guess the nice thing is they come with a 30day warranty.

Were you running standard load tires on the 350? They should have been 10 ply tires. If they were not, that would explain why they felt like marshmallows.

I have had a set of Silent Armours on my Excursion for about 20,000 miles and have had no wander issues, or any other issues for that matter. I agree with damon about the load rating and 10 ply. If you dont have the load rating for your truck, it will handle and feel wierd. These are the best tires I have ever had, I'm now on my second set, forst ones went with Expedition when traded in.
