I have a 72 F250 and just recently threw a rod. I am trying to determine whether I should try and find another engine or just get the engine rebuilt. Any suggestions? The cost is definitley a factor! Thanks for everyones help!

Welcome to FTE
If the engine threw a rod, there could be major block damage, sometimes the rod goes right thru the block.
Yeah thats what i'm gonna probably have to do. I've been looking now on the classifieds for anyone selling used engines. Do I have to go remanufactured or how do you feel about older used engines?
I've got a couple that I've found in the classifieds that I need to go look at. But it is true that you really never know what might go wrong afterwards. Thanks for all of your guys help. I'll keep ya posted and get some pictures up to. Have a good weekend everyone.
If you can't hear it run, it might be worth $100, it might not. I would have the nerve to ask if I could pull a Valve cover and the oil pan in that case.
If you can hear it, drive it, ask to do a compression test.
A quick qualifier is to pull the big coil wire from the cap, ground it to the block, and crank the engine. If you have even compression, the sound will be constant. Ask to do a compression test. If the sound fluctuates up and down, walk away.

That's a great tip - I've done that myself for people wanting to buy used vehicles
