Great work; glad to see someone else works at my pace level (snail speed). lol
Excellent work on the bed. Question did you roll or spray the Eastwood encapsulator?
Got me thinking on my 78 rebuild I'm doing the bed section now. (see in my Gallery).
Keep up the good work......

In my case snail speed would be an improvement! I brushed on the encapsulator, then sprayed the underneath of the bed with Ragoon Red. I still need to get pictures of that. I went through the engine too, but it looks no where near as good as your 78's engine. Your 78 project looks like a very solid platform. I do like the look of the exhaust manifold paint.

The paint on the exhaust is Eastwood, I also used it on my 65 model, but in a higher gloss sliver. You got me thinking of using the encapsulator on the 78's bed, then spray it with paint. I don't plan on painting the body until spring / every summer. The end date I have to complete this truck is mid July for my daughters 16th B-day.
Thanks again for posting your progress.

Mitch, My plan is to get the under carriage & mechanicals completed first, then paint later. I bought a gallon of the rust encapsulator and am coating the under panels as well as the frame. Thanks for the tip on the maniford paint.

Good luck with the 78. I'm sure that your daughter will enjoy it. Does she help you during the the resto? It'll make for some good father daughter time.

She help alittle, mainly installing things like engine perches & things once all the dirty work is done; but her school time takes up most of the time I work on the truck; mostly during the weekdays, when I can spare time, between trying to make some extra dough. But I appericate her desire to have a old truck verse's her older sister attiude. ( new & expenses)..

Keep up the good work; looking forward to more progress on your Slick.

Looking good. I'll have to go back (when I'm not so tired/sleepy) and review your previous posts for advice and inspiration.

Wow very nice job on the floor of that cab. Were the cab mount rusted out? just a question about the encapsulator, does it react with rust and stop it or cover it? How does that work. I too am goig to do a frame up resto on by black and white long bed and I only intend to do it once. I intend to do all my mods before I strip her down so I have time to get some of this figured out!

The bottom of your cab looks better than the shiny side of my truck. Ought to be a real looker by the time you are done. Nice work!

Thanks guys. Taking my time would be an understatement. This is a Texas truck so rust was minimum. Just the passenger side floor and a small section in front of the bed. The cab mounts were perfect - shown in another picture in my gallery

The rust encapsulator only covers up rust. They sell a rust converter, but I didn't think that I needed it.

By the way, I do plan to use it as a truck. The paint and stuff is in attempts to make it last a bit.

Oh yeah I see lots of Southern cars come up here and start to rust within a year. I found out put of the reason why. Every crossmemebr, nook and cranny were completely full of Texas dirt. That stuff gets wet with road salt and just starts the rust process. Lots of time spent power washing to get that mud out.

Thanks again
