bendix power assist seal

does anybody know where to get the seal kit for the bendix type power cylinder. it is leaking bad I leave a puddle everywhere I go I tried NPD and ford direct both say they can not get them. I don't want to spend the 250 for a new cylinder if I don't have to.

I found this post by Bill (NumberDummy) in another Thread. Is that what you are looking for?

"I just checked, it is still available from Ford. Maybe you gave Ed the wrong info.

Ed usually contacts me when he needs part numbers for 1979 and earlier vehicles, because he doesn't have any parts catalogs prior to 1980.

I haven't heard a peep oughtta him inre to these parts.

D4TZ3A764A .. Ram Seal Kit-Bendix / MSRP: $ 49.87 / FTEpartsguy.com price: $35.90.

Fits: 1974 F250 4WD after serial # T80,000 / All 1975/77.5's.

The closest Ford dealer to you that has the kit is Countryside Ford in Navarre OH: 800-879-2124

Matlock Ford-Mercury in Franklin IN also has one of the kits."

Rob

Hi Rob, just had a moment to check on this part number and it is obsolete, I ran it on my locator and no dealer came up as having one in stock.

I think there are a few sponsor here on FTE that might be able to help on older trucks.

Wesley Obsolete Parts in Liberty KY has TWO = 606-787-5293.

Karlson Motors in Ketchikan AK has ONE = 907-225-9022.

From my original posted list....these two and Ed's list above, are the ONLY places remaining that have this kit.

Obsolete parts are hard to find. If you snooze, you lose.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NAPA used to carry this seal kit (dunno about now), and can cross the Ford p/n over to the brands they sell.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
btw: 1973/77 F250 4WD.

All 1973's, 1974's BEFORE Serial Number T80,001 use Garrison P/S.

1974's AFTER Serial Number T80,001, 1975/76's and 1977's BEFORE Serial Number Y20,001 use Bendix P/S.

The two systems are completely dfferent, so the parts do not interchange.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ben: This is the Ram Cylinder Seal Kit.

These F250 4WD's use Power Assist P/S, which have a P/S Control Valve and Ram Cylinder. The gearbox has nothing to do with it.

Most of the cars used Power Assist P/S 1953 thru 1964. Mustang/Cougar/Falcon/Fairlane/Torino/Montego thru 1970, Mavericks/Comets used it thru 1977.
