I have a 1997 F250 with a 5.8 (I know it's a 351, but I can't remember the actual name of the motor...) I was told to post over here because my engine is that of a 96, I just have the '97 body style...
With every OBD I've come in contact with, it's been an OBDII and the plug for the scanner has been under the dash on the driver side. With a quick glance, and extensive search, I found that I neither have a OBDII (instead I have an OBDI) and my scanner plug isn't under my dash. I tried to look it up in my manuel, and it said that, while most are under the dash, it may also be near the kick wall, under the glove compartment, or in the engine bay (eek! )
Sadly, I've searched the entire length of my truck and cann't find the plug. I even put my fear of the engine compartment in my pocket and searched. Other than getting a small chunk of hair torn out by my belt (not my smartest move), nothing really useful happened. I can't find it anywhere.
I even tried calling my local Ford dealer, and after getting transfered 5 times and ending up getting disconnected( ), I decided to look up a Ford forum.
if your 97 is like my 95,the plug is under the hood on the driver's side on the fender close to the hood hinge. should say eec test or some such on it.
It's actually two connectors. One is almost "D" shaped, and the other is a single wire pigtail. They should be in a cover that reads EEC TEST as was stated before.
only if it hasnt been touched will the pluggs be in the factory covers. Most of the time the plastic brakes but the plugs are laying very close to the relays that run the truck.

you actually have the 96 f250 body style and engine.
OK, I give up.... why two threads with the same question?
I was told I was in the wrong section (having originally asked in the 97 section) and was told to put it in the 96 section.. didn't find a way to pick it up and move it, so I made another thread.
