This weekend on the way to the lake I was pulling the boat up a hill and I set the CEL. I commonly het the 1211 and know what that is caused by but this time I have a 1209 to go with it any ideas what causes this code or what the problem could be
1209 states IPR valve stuck. Or could be read as sticking. Does it come back once cleared? It may also be caused by the chip and only showing up intermittently under different circumstances. The CEL clears itself doesn't it? If so I wouldn't worry about it any more than the 1211 unless it becomes chronic.
1209 & 1211 are related (both ICP faults). You might be seeing the beginning signs of a flaky FPR/IPR or ICP sensor, but I've seen random strange codes after nailing mine hard too. I can't recall if I've seen 1209 or not though. I'd say if it continues to run okay, don't worry about it. But if you start having idle/rough running symptoms, it's time to take a closer look at those things.
Once cleared it does not come back immediately. It does take longer to clear itself than the 1211. I set it 3x this weekend alone and I can pretty much set 1211 at will

I'm like you, I set the 1211 whenever I romp on it. I have only set the 1209 a couple of times since I put in the DP Tuner in early May. I wish I could remember the circumstances when I set the 1209. I think the 1209 sets when the PCM sees high ICP demand for an extended time, like pulling a grade and not just a quick WOT run. If you could pull that same grade without the boat and not set a 1209 than it is circumstantial and not chronic. Whenever I tow my boat up a grade in the stock position I never set any codes. The stock setting is what I like to call the "performance challenged tune".
I like that Perf Challenged tune. Unfortunately that option is not available to me one day my downloader was stolen from my truck so I run around with that set on 100 HP all the time most the time I have the juice all the way up as well just watch all the temps and hope for the best.
