I could be better, but still could be worse. I failed my CDL driving test today. The truck didn't pass the air brake test.......so I getta go back and try again. I'm also coming down with a cold. Seems I get this crap every year at least once for about 2-3 weeks. But on the other hand, I'm still alive.
pat,
your right no man deserves that. me and erin must have put in 10 apps in the last week.
at various places. and we will continue to do that until someone gives in!!!!

well I'm now going through pain management and getting needles in the back -n- knee.
Christmas is going to suck, I get shots on the 23rd.
Yea, I heard from my brother that they got the truck fixed, had some bad valves or something of the sort. It was kind of funny, they failed me on the drive test for that reason, and the DOT will put you out of service (meaning that truck doesn't move until it's fixed) but yet it was still safe enough to drive home. Gotta love the gov't. I wasn't even worried about anything on the test, especially the brake checks. I'd never done them before but I knew what to do and never figured that the truck would flunk. Oh well. I try again on the 31st.
Yep. I was pretty frustrated at first. I wish I would've done a brake check sometime before I left home. I guess now I know for next time to double check all that stuff.
Then again, I don't feel too bad because most people I've talked to failed some test their first time (be it written, brake check, driving, whatever). My great uncle (who took me in) failed his first time because he forgot to do his brake check.
Oh well. I found out pretty quick that driving a semi isn't the same as driving a car or pickup with a stick. I also found out that until you get on to it, it's not NEAR as easy as my dad makes it look (he's had his CDL since forever, and an owner/operator for probably about 25 years).
hi jake,dave,
good to hear from ya's.
hey dave how'd you like that weather i sent?lol!
jake sorry about the test. did you have and air leak somewhere? maybe a brake can leak? just curious. by the by i'm a dot inspector! for class8 tractors and trailers.
Here's the deal. On the first part of the brake check where you hold the pedal for one minute I lost 5 psi, and you're not supposed to lose more than 4. When I fanned off the pressure the lights and warnings came on at 60. At about 40 the trailer valve popped, but the tractor vavle didn't pop until I got to 0. Two times it did this. I don't know for sure what the problem was but my dad called Peterbilt and they said the valves in the cab were probably bad. Hopefully they get that fixed ASAP because my older brother is going in on Friday to get his liecense. I guess if all else fails we have plenty of trucks around.....
