well, thanks for all the help. i screwed up.

i was assembling the IPR (it was clean, so i think the solonoid may have been the problem anyway. Ford told me today they don't sell the solonoid separatly.

I had the whole thing together, and finger tightened it, then grabed my wrench to put the two main pieces together more than finger tight. as soon as i gave the slightest pressure, i felt/heard a tiny pop. i thought it was dirt on the threads, so i unscrewed it. the tiny needle broke. I don't understand why.

just ordered from guzzle. guess i'm down for the weekend

Allen,

I have a 1 1/8 deep socket that I know fits over the IPR and still accepts a rachet. I tried it when I changed out my HPOP. PM me and I will send it to you.

Hey Guzzle, got 'er today. THANKS!! installed already, filled the HPOP and it wants to run real rough like it's missing on a couple cylinders. how long before i figure it's just air in the IPR and when i must open it up and re-tighten? I think i got 'er pretty tight, both big nut and tin nut. I actually tried to tighten the tin nut more, and it looks bent. i think i got it plenty tight, didn't help. i guess i can take it for a test drive, but i worry about a couple cylinders not getting fuel. do you think i need to get the main nut tighter? I had a long breaker bar on it during install, and i didn't want to strip it.

Hey guys, Figured I would ask a couple questions in this thread as I just replaced my IPR after my 02 kept stalling when hot and not restarting until it had cooled down but now it seems to run kind of rough. So I was wondering should I just drive it a little more and see if it purges the air from the HPOP or if I should just check the oil level in the HPOP as I lost some when I changed out the IPR?

The LPOP will replenish the oil you lost but give it 30+ miles to purge the air.

Yep -- I've had my HP oil system open twice in less than a week (once for injectors, once for fixing a leaky HPOP O-ring). Once you get some miles on it, it should straighten out.
