Patch panels are next

Should be able to start my fenders this weekend. Need to make some repairs on bottom of the fenders. I have a 4x4 sheet of 20 gauge sheet metal. Should I be using something a little thicker or is this ok?

metal gauge

I think the fenders may have been 18 ga or possibly 16 ? Only quessing. I used 18 ga for box fabrication, but I believe the original box was thicker. I have the front lowers to do on my 50 , mainly dents not rust.

Most of the body sheetmetal is ~ 18 ga. I like using something in that range unless I need to make something with a lot of shaping needed. The heavier metal gives you a little extra stock in case you get a little heavy handed with the grinder smoothing the welds, is easier to weld without blowing thru and less likely to heat warp. Be sure to use cold rolled sheet rather than hot rolled.
PS: a thickness gauge is an inexpensive and useful tool to have.

Thanks. I was to work on my patch panels today. But ended up doing Christmas decorations outside. Had some time left so I made up my steering column shaft instead. Maybe tomorrow!
