Blown out oil pan gasket

Need some advice on this one, searched the archives and found nothing. Got a 96 PSD dually with 94k miles, bought new, the only parts that I have changed on it is the batteries last March and the fuel lift pump this past July. It's stays parked in my garage when not in use (all my freinds say that diesel doesn't leak on the concrete, it's always clean when cooking out, my response is, it's a FORD) I drove it Wednesday to the plant and back (about 8 miles round trip). Stayed in the garage till this morning, walked by the front of it and noticed a small puddle under front end, got flashlight and looked up underneath, before cranking. The oil is coming from the front of the oil pan ( underneath the crank seal appliance ) in the U part of the pan. The gasket is pushed out in a place about 11/2" long between block and pan. This truck is drove empty most of the time, but does pull a 32ft horse trailer and a 24ft flatbed with a Ford backhoe on it once and a while. Crank case pressure is about the only thing I can think of that would do this, but I really don't know how the PCV system is set up on these trucks. I am very much open for suggestions at this point.

Thanks,
Darron

If the leak is at the very front of the engine I think it may be the front crank seal.
The oil pan is sealed with RTV type sealant so you may be seeing a little extra
oozing out. It generally doesn't leak there. The oil may be running down the front making it look like a pan
gasket leak. You would need to pull the harmonic balancer to see if it's coming
from there.

The picture shows the balancer removed.

Thanks Cuda_jim, but I went out while ago (at work) and breifly rolled up under it again and there was no oil on the harmonic balancer nor on the bolts holding the appliance for the front crank seal. The only oil I could find was right on that silicone pushed out between block and pan, could it be dripping from something above and just puddling on that silicone sticking out. Will take alot better look when I get it back to the house.

Thanks,
Darron

Some times the leak will be from where the dip stick enters the pan and runs down the pan on the right (passenger side). If you do a search there is a way to replace that O ring.

Thanks oldbird1965, got a small seep on that side of the pan also, was thinking about taking a pair of channel locks and see could that big nut be tightened up some. The leak that I had earlier was on the front of the oil pan, I've wiped everthing clean and driving a couple of days to see if I can tell exactly were it's coming from. Only leaked on garage floor 1 time in 12 years and I am positive it was engine oil.

Thanks,
Darron

If you do a search there is a way to replace that O ring. I just tighten that big nut, cleaned up every thing with brake cleaner and used some goop around the nut. It will stop the leak for awhile but one of these days I'll do it right.
