When making a turn at low 1st gear speeds(for example backing out of a parking spot), my truck makes a squeeling sound(I assume it's the tires). It is a 1988 Ford Ranger 4WD, other than the tires being worn out(I'm not sure if they are, I know the back ones are new) is there anything else that could be causing this?
Thanks,
Ray Browne

Did it just start recently? you say the rear tires are new, could be a softer compound than the tires you were running. New tires somtimes squeal on fresh sealed blactop also.
Aslo, if you have limited slip, it could cause this also.
I'd bet ya the cost of a new belt that it is the belt. Only reason I know this is cause once in a while I loan my buddy my '96 Ranger to use and so I take his '95 Monte Carlo. Well anyways, didn't matter if I went slow through the turns or if I just dropped the gas pedal and took off as fast as I could through the turn, the squeal was there. Well anyways, he had the belt replaced and problem solved. Just thought I'd put in my two cents. Goodluck.
