Is there any way to eliminate the radio power off delay? I've got an '05 F-250 w/ 6.0L PSD, so I use the turbo timer on my Viper remote start quite a bit to allow the turbo to cool itself before shutting down. The only problem is that I'm already out of the truck and gone before the engine actually shuts down, thus leaving the radio to play for a period of time as I'm not there to open the door to make it stop. I don't think it's a big deal to let the radio play, but I'd just like for it to go off when the ignition is turned off. I think I can wire the factory alarm re-arm wire on my Viper to the driver's door pin wire and make the radio stop, but then the dome light will come on for a while...again, not a huge deal but not how I'd like it to be.
Well, you if your handy with wiring. The radio circuit on the RS is going to the Accy 1 and 2 wires. If you eliminate them, it should still start and run properly, but it will not turn on the radio. It will probably stop the heater from blowing, but I bet you can find another place to wire for power during RS.
I don't think your dealing with accy delay, I do believe it's the Accy wire being powered by the RS during the RS's turbo timer feature.
The radio stays on even when the remote start hasn't been used...most newer vehicles have this feature. The HVAC controls go off when the ignition is switched off, but the radio remains on for a period of time or until a door is opened. I know GM vehicles have the option to turn this feature off. I didn't get an owners manual with my truck (I bought it used) so I don't know if it's referenced there or not.
It's my understanding that the delay should be shut down as soon as you open the door. That's been the way most vehicles I've played with worked. I haven't played with the turbo timer on my RS, but it should go into RS run mode. Meaning, that power is being supplied to the ign and accy wires through the RS and not the key.
Don't want to get too far off topic, but I have a like question with my 2001 Expedition XLT Premium Radio. Instead, it it possible to keep the radio on when the ignition key is off. For that year, once the engine and key is off, the windows still work, but not the radio - any "hidden" tweaks you may know about?
If you can find the live circuit for the windows, you can use it to trip a relay and keep the radio on. You will probably have to run it to the switched radio power.
