Accessory delay relay

Trying to figure out why my aftermarket head unit doesn't stay on. key off, until the door is opened like the factory radio.

I'm thinking that the harness adapter supplied (in fact I know from looking) that there is no wire to the accessory delay relay pin on the factory harness.

I can re-pin the connector easy enough, but the question is this.

Is the accessory delay relay energized all the time when the key is in the run or accessory position, or is it only energized key off?

Thanks

Are you saying that my radio should stay on until I open the door? It doesn't.

My factory radio did. Can you operate the windows, after stopping engine (key off) before opening the door?

I had that problem - I wish I could remember which wire, but if you're patient with a test light, you'll find it.

OK, I have checked and the Pioneer radio goes off with the key but the windows work until the door is popped. I'd guess that the Pioneer radio just wasn't installed right or won't play nice with the delay system.

Same with my new Pioneer, I'm guess there must be an additional pin in the factory harness for the accessory delay that the aftermarket radio isn't using.

My older pioneer Bluetooth radio works with the accessory delay? Maybe the wrong switched 12v signal was used on your install?

I pulled the unit over the weekend. Using a multi-meter, I could not find a wire that corresponded to the accessory delay rely. Stumped.

I can't really help you on this, I installed the unit about 4 years ago, and all I did was follow the wiring diagram that was provided. I *may* have time to pull my dash this weekend and investigate a little further if needed, but I am wondering if it is something to do with yours being a more complex unit maybe?

Wires is wires...That's all I'm thinking. I would think for the radio to remain on, accessory delay relay working, that there would be a corresponding wire in the factory harness.

The headunit uses a yellow wire that is constant hot, to keep the memory alive, and red wire for the powerup portion of the unit.

My windows and radio will continue to operate after I turn my truck off for 10 minutes or until I open one of the front doors.

My widows work, but since I changed the headunit...the radio goes off when the key gets turned to off. That's what I'm trying to solve.

I didn't install mine and it is what it's been since I bought it. I'm not much worried about it but I don't sit in my truck for any length of time when I get someplace. I dread the thought of tearing the dash apart (never done it and don't know what's entailed) for something that really doesn't bother me.

I was having trouble getting the unit fully booted during start up, I was hoping that having this correctly would fix that. Maybe it won't.

But I flashed a new ROM on and it has not had a hickup since.
