Well, the code is for a TCC (Torque Convertor Clutch) solenoid problem.

I don't know enough about transmission diagnosis. You still have time to change your post. I'd make the title reflect a transmission problem and hopefully Mark Kovalsky, the resident transmission expert, or other tranny guys will see it and respond.

Where you live?

Sounds like two unrelated issues. Title changed

They are related. You have an open electrical circuit. It could be a bad torque converter clutch solenoid, or most likely the wiring from the PCM to the solenoid, and there is even a slight possibility that it is a bad PCM, but that's rare. With an open electrical circuit the torque converter won't lock and that will also set the stuck off code.

Thanks Mark - to me, it sounded like he had the typical broken wire in the shifter AND a code, but it's hard to tell.

A broken wire in the shifter won't cause a P0743. That's caused by an open electrical circuit in the torque converter clutch (TCC) circuit. That's unrelated to the shifter.

Yes, you have to take the pan off to get to the torque converter solenoid. It's not a shift solenoid, those are different. And the TCC solenoid may not be the problem. This code usually appears due to a wiring problem.

P0741 means excessive torque converter slip, i.e., the torque converter is not locked when it should be. There is no code that means there is a wire shorted in the steering column.

I to have the same error codes and same truck 02 f250 7.3 4r100. p0743 and p0741. where do I start looking if it is faulty wiring, (more specific) which wiring harness on the trans most likely would the fault be located. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The first place to look is in the connector on the driver's side of the transmission. Water can get into that connector and then the pins corrode.

Then you need to check resistance for each pin from the PCM to the transmission connector. Also check each one for shorts to power and shorts to ground.

Hi mark I am having a very similar issue with my f250 2003. It is showing the p0741 and p0743 faults.
I just purchased the vehicle and it had blown the fuse caused by the gear selector wiring. I have sin
