I've bought stake pockets from SVF and the stock roll pan for my early 50 F-1 , but they didn't have the inner piece for the connection between the pocket and roll pan. Believe it or not , I found that piece in the ford section of an RB's catalog. Go figure!
I bought stake pockets and a stock roll pan for my early 50 f-1 at Sacramento Vintage Ford. There's an inner piece that goes between the connection of the pocket and the pan which they don't or didn't stock. Well, believe it or not, I found that piece in the ford section of an RB's catalog, Go figure! Oh, Sacramento Vintage Ford has an awesome Store display of their parts. Sheetmetal, fiberglass, gauges, magazines, complete hot rod rolling frame display, nostalgia hot rod garage display, and on and on. You can spend alot of time there. Check out their website.
I received my SVF catalog in the mail too. They have a ton of parts, look great too but their prices are high. I have found for common parts like valve springs, lifter, gaskets, local stores are cheaper by far. I bought a complete flathead gasket set, Felpro, at a local parts house for $43.
I was fortunate enough to be in Sacramento one summer on business, on the weekend that SVF had one of their open houses/car shows. You wouldn't believe the iron that shows up for that! Quite a production, and a really nice showroom. Same weekend there was a swap meet in town that was awesome!
I work close enough to Sac Vintage Ford to go there on my lunch hour, preferably when I drive the '54. Great Place!! and the only place I've learned more about trucks, is the year or 2 I've spent constantly lurking here at FTE.
But, I do have to deal with the Wife saying: "You spent HOW MUCH for Lunch!?!?"
After 10 years on and off I completed my "53 Effie.I liked Mid-Fifties because they offered "kits" with every thing you need with out having to buy each part individually. They worked with me very well. Personally so to speak. Also have a price match policy. My vote would go to Mid-Fifties. That being said I have never heard of Sacramento Vintage Ford. Guess I need to get their catalog.
I am a diehard Mid50's/Hot ROD trucks/DC man myself. I just like looking at the different catalogs. I have found the 3 above to be very good with customer service at the point of sale and there after. So I tend to stick with them because that's important.
