How long should it take my trans temp gauge to start showing temp? I'm only driving about 12 miles to work now, the needle for the trans temp. never moves the whole time. I'm curious if this is normal or if my temp. sender may be bad.
If you want to test the gauge put some water on to boil, got out and remove the temp probe, go back in and get the boiling water, get back under truck and immerse probe in water and check gauge. That is how I bench tested my gauge before install.

Sure that would work, but I'm lazy
Tried stomping on it on the way home the last 2 nights- got nothing. I'll just hope that its working properly and call it good.

Mine wouldn't move all the way to work. 18 miles in the summer mornings. On the way home it would creep up ever so little bit. It takes a longer than i expected. I was worried at first but i shot the pan with the lazer temp gauge to confirm(check for approximate accuracy) on some long trips with the camper and solo.
When I drive "normal" it comes up to about 120-140 when it's in the 60s. In the cool mornings it stays near the bottom of the range, and my drive to work is about 22 miles. In the summer when it's 95-100 out, I can hit 180-200 driving not-so-nice, but driving normally, it's around 150.
I think it would be good for you do test your probe just to make sure -- at those temps, you won't know if it's working or not until it warms up...
