Bill, cool off with a cold one and relax. I was only reminding everyone to do their homework, parts that "look" the same may not be. There is a number of other parts involved in a swap like this that have to be correct for it to work right. By the way, Bill. About the "if", I've told you before that I DO have the parts catalog ('48-'56, 1964 printing) and I used to manage a parts house. Threrefore, I know the damned parts catalog will lie to you sometimes, it is NOT the gosple. Now, we are all just trying to help when we think we can so quit trying to be the last word on Ford parts, because you are not. You are good what you do but you really do need to cool it a little.

I've been in the car hobby for over FIFTY TWO YEARS.
Most of my pals that have Fords or Packards have parts catalogs.
On this and most other Ford related websites, the peeps do not have parts catalogs, even tho every one is available on CD's from 1948 thru 1989 for less than 25 bucks.
If they did have parts catalogs, they could look the numbers up for themselves saving me the trouble.

Which tells you I type one hell of a lotta part numbers...and I do this because I want to...no one pays me a cent to do this schess!
Help me with something if you will. I'm talking to Tip49 who has a Candian 49 F47 (according to his profile) .
We ahve had tons of discussions about Cowl vents and I can find plenty of line drawings of the 53+ vents but in all of my pubs (48-51 Shop Manual, 44-52 Body Parts Cat. Chassis Parts Cat. 48-56 Truck Illustrations Cat) I can't find a line drawing of the 48-52 Cowl vent handle hook ups. Do you recall if there is one somehwere?

In the 1944/52 Body Parts Catalog, look at the sheet metal illustration of the cab itself.
That's where it is in the 1948/56 catalog (53/56) and the 1953 Mercury Truck catalog.

There are a couple pictures of the '46 cowl vent on page 29 of the Body Parts Catalogue, and '47/48 on page 30. But they look like car as opposed to truck. And my 48-56 Illistrations Catalogue only has body/sheet metal from 53 up. Hmmmmm.
I could swear I saw one somewhere but can't find it now. It's driving me crazy (that would be a short drive - we could probably just walk.)
