Anyone else notice that the annoying mouse over ads are ALL for CHEVROLET trucks or cars? WTH? This is a FORD website, why do I give one iota of a damn about a new chevy?
Yeah, when you're broke you can't become a supporter. Food comes first. I was a supporter for a while, then every took a nosedive and I wasn't able to re-up the sub. I just find it amazing how many GM ads we are subjected to.... It wouldn't bother me if every time I moved the mouse I didn't get another ad for the new silverado.
something has to pay the bills, its relatively cheap to be a supporter, but obviously supporters alone dont bring in enough revenue to keep the site up and running...... Television, radio, the newspaper, etc all have advertising, and this form of media is no different.....Regarding GM ads,i would imagine that they are trying to get new business here, just like Ford and Chrysler likely run ads on sites aimed at enthusiasts of other brands
It's a google ad thing. The site really has no control over it.
You're right.
I was on another site, dedicated to 4x4ing. Some guy asked a question about why he kept seeing "male-male encounter" ads (not what he said word for word, mind you). Other guys answered saying "I don't see what you're seeing, I see Jeep ads."
I personally think for a little more than .05 cents a day it's a bargain. I've sure saved a lot more than that from what I've learned here. Plus the friends and vanished ads are just an added perk...

They sure passed up a good opportunity to have some fun with that, LOL! I would have said the forum software looks at all the cookies on your computer. It knows where you've been and selects the advertising you see according to your interests! Yeah, yeah, that's it pfogle. You see GM ads because you've been viewing too many gay GM discussion groups! Busted, dude!

I don't see the ads, but if GM wants to pay for me to read about Ford trucks, that's fine with me... might help explain why they're losing so much money...

Some guys didn't pass it up. They typed their response exactly like you did. But it sure was funny.
