its getting below freezing here in nj and my truck was cold but started right up. started driving and go a hissing out of the exhaust.

its your ebpv (exhaust back pressur valve) it will do it until the engine warms. it's kinda like that engines coat. keeps heat and pressure in until warm. will do it when it is cold but you can unplug it. tjbeggs or c00nhunterjow may have pics of the plug in their galleries. the plug it on the drivers side of the turbo towards the bottom. it has two wires going into it. just unplug and forget it

X2, your okay. Just the EBPV. You can unplug it, or let it do what it does. Either way you will be just fine. But I wouldn't pull out in front of traffic with it closed. LOL

No, it won't hurt a thing. And NO, no extra smoke.

no sir. just gonna take a tad longer to warm up. i put mine on a switch so i could use it as an exhaust brake but thats all the use it gets now. ive had mine unplugged for a year now and like not having the sluggish power and hissing at first run. no more smoke will be seen either

No it won't hurt anything and should cause any smoke.

I've only heard of one downside to unplugging this connector. During the colder months, the engine will take longer to warm up and MAY cause a drop in MPG. There won't be any affect during the warmer months. This is according to my Ford mechanic.

I had my EBPV unplugged last year and mileage did go down a bit (about 1.5 MPG) during the colder weather. It also set a code that my buddies Edge Evolution did not see but the dealership's $5000 scanner did see. Don't remember what the code was.

I have the EBPV plugged in for now. It hasn't been that cold yet. My warm weather months MPG is around 18 and my current MPG with the weather cooling off is around 16.5 - 17. The defroster and heater seem to work better with the EBPV plugged in, but that's IMHO.

Facing your truck with the hood open, it's under and to the right (driver's) side of the turbo. It's a two-wire plug. Unplug it and you're done.

Mods are in my signature.

I have to add the DiamondEye 3" downpipe and 4" exhaust to my signature. That's been in for a few months now.

Sounds like it's in limp mode. You may want to run the codes.

Push down on the shifter. It'll shift then.
