I have a 2003 V10 Limited that I just love and with the help from members have turned it into a fine towing and just plain driving machine.
Need some (more) help this time concerning the back up sensors. They just recently stopped woking and the button on the dash always reads OFF, and doesn't change when manually pushed(well might change to ON for a quick second but then goes back to OFF).
Have cleaned the senors in the bummper but that didn't help. Anything that I should check before I bring it in?
most likely that one of the sensors died. an easy way to check (but requires one new sensor) is to pull one out at a time and recheck after its plugged in. any warranty?
Mine does the same thing. Started last night. Was working fine, then it went to off. When I clicked it it went on for about a half a second, then off again. Tried it a few times to no avail. Let me know if you find anything.
Mine went out about a month ago. It died like right now. I checked the sensor connections and pulled the control module out and opened the case. I could not see any apparent damage. I was going to get a new control module until I found out they were $185. I believe I will try RACERX7775's suggestion and get a new sensor. Mine does not say OFF all the time. Some times it reads OFF others there is no OFF light. Not sure what that means. The backup lights work fine. Anyone know where there is a good write up on how the system works, possible troubleshooting procedures and where to get a replacement sensor cheap?
I had the same problem on my wifes Expedition- ended up being the control module- and no options left but to replace it- especially with the way my wife drives!!!!- atleast with functioning sensors I can brace myself before impact!!!

Lol.lol.lol. I feel ypur pain. My wife had 2 accidents while backing out of parking spots and hit the other car in the next aisle over.
On mine, it blows the #28 fuse and the reverse lights don't work at all. Even my backup camera won't work. The truck totally doesn't even know I shifted into reverse. Its intermittant. And the backup sensor OFF switch appears to be ok. It never shows OFF. Turn signals die too but hazzards are ok. Hmmmmmm.
I have the same issue. My brother borrowed the ex and backed into a brick wall (?????????). He struck the wall with the passengers side corner of the bumper. It actually did more damage to the wall than the ex. It bent the corner of the bumper, pushed the rear bumper up a bit and and the rear tail light was busted. No sensors were damaged. I have the problem where sometimes the reverse sensors work just fine, and sometimes the "off" part of the button stays on no matter what. I'm assuming a sensor is going bad. No fuses blown, reverse lights work fine.
nope... mine only blows the fuse once every few days with no pattern at all. i just carry a bunch of 15 amp fuses that i get from work. i keep about a dozen at all times. it only takes about 45 seconds to change it. its a pain though and a hassle.
Go get (borrow) a GOOD scan tool like the OTC/SPX Genisys or a Snap On tool. OE Ford IDS will work too. These tools can preform a self test on the PAM (Park Assist Module) and tell you which sensor is faulty. I just did this and had to replace one of mine. There is someone on eBAy selling these really CHEEP. I bought three of them just to have two as spares.
