My expy won't go into forward gears will reverse fine. Have a p0720 code saying output shaft sensor. I checked what I believe is the correct sensor, back of tranny on passenger side mounted on flat section sticking straight up. When I unplugged the sensor the connector was soaked in tranny fluid. Could the sensor have cracked and filling the connector and causing error code? I tried to remove sensor but there are no screws or bolts holding it. I can't seem to pull it out either. It moves slightly up and down. How can I get this out to replace? It has a big round plug with about 5 or 6 pins in it. Need to change tomorrow so any help would be appreciated.
That connector is for the solenoids inside the transmission, although fluid in this area is not a good thing it wont keep it from not having any forward engagement, nothing electrical will. If the transmission is full of fluid and no forward you have something inside the transmission that has failed, this transmission will most likely have to be rebuilt.
So if all the electrical connectors are full of fluid ans potentially shorting our on each other that wont xause a problem? I can shift on the column to d and it will attempt to move but has the feeling like ebrake is on and dragging. Lije the solenoids cant decide where to go cause of short.
Ok so it sounds like it does have forward gears, it just might be in a fail safe mode, this will make the transmission start out in a higher gear, yours will start out in 2nd. I would fix the output shaft sensor problem and clear the code and recheck.
The only way to stop the fluid in the case connector is to replace the connector. The pan and valvebody will have to be removed to get to it.
I droooed the pan and removed the solenoid pack with its 100 bolts lol. Got the plug changes but i had 3 pieces come out. A small filter screen, a large spring, anf a round plate that it looks like the springs rides on. Does anyone please have a scematic that shows where these go and what direction they go back in so i can button this back together???? Please help me.
Thank you so much. Is there are chance that #1 stayed inside tranny cause only the spring and plate fell out. You dont know how much i appreciate it. I only bought enough tranny fluid for filter change which is 5 qts. After removing solenoids i lost a lot more fluid. Any idea how much i need to go back in with?
When the valve body was off it probably drained the converter, not sure how much more fluid you would need, get 5 more quarts and return the left overs if there is any.
I was just concerned cause i tried it that way and yhe spring and plate went in that way but stayed up in the hole and didnt fall out but when i dropped the back it fell out. So i wanted to make sure it went in that way and i wasnt wedging it in wrong or anything before i reassembled everything. When i place it in the hole it goes up in there enough that its not touching the pack.
Thanks for the help jk080. Do you by chance have a schematic of the driver side if tranny showing how the black bracket goes on? One of the screws that held the pack on held tiis and ut may be obvious when i put it back together tonight but i just want everything available when i start. Also the metal fork piece that rides on the gear for the shift linkage, is that suppost to be adjusted to a certain spot or just slid all the way back and tightened?
