Yes it is tight but it can be done. You just have to be careful not to crunch anything on the way in or out and pay attention to even the slightest snag.

There was a post in the last month where someone had damaged the oil pressure sending unit doing this exact manuver.
On the 7.3 NA motors and the 87 6.9, the glow plug relay is in a dangerous location as well.
