Does anyone have any photos of speaker locations in your truck? Door panels? Tranny hump box? Under the seat? behind the seat? behind the seat above the gas tank? Under the dash? Thanks.
I pulled the heater core out and removed the glove box. I installed a 6 inch bazooka tube in the dash and reinstalled the heater. It worked well but i lost the glove box.
i cut 2 6x9's into the metal dash. when i get time and money i'll make a dashpad for it. the problem is one hits the dash even after i took the metal bracket off the top, the other is sitting on the glovebox. should be ok when i get the dashpad in though. i was going to put them in the door but didn't want to blast the side of my leg. and if i get rid of them i can just weld sheetmetal over the holes and use the dashpad. i'm really thinking about the headliner with the speakers in it.
the best place I found was right behind the bottom hinge at the front bottom of the door panel. The kick panels are not water proof. Another good place is to simply get some 6x9 boxes and tuck them in the cab corners. My dad had some 3 1/2" speakers in the upper back of the cab which fit and looked nice, but fired right into your ears, so goodbye stereo effect. Sorry no pics
when i had a 2 door i have 2 2X10s in the upper back of the cab, fit and were very loud as they were right next to your ears. i also put in bucket seats and built a sub box to go between the seats to hold 2 12 inch subs.
now in my crew i have 2 6.5" in the door pannel, not the door its self just the center pannel. if you ever want to take the speakers out of the door if they are cut into the door its self you will have problems but if it is in the pannel you can just replace it or cover it. i have also put in buckets to this truck and had 2 12s in the center of the seats too. i also built little boxes that are on the floor next to the piller between the doors for the back seat.
Man, that looks badass. Thats exactly how i want my setup. Buckets, and a center console with subs, and nice stereo. When can i bring my truck over so you can hook me up?
i would love to take the credit for that one, i didnt build it. i had stock buckets in there stock(on this truck) and had the console built for my truck. on my 69 2 door i built a square frame mounted 2 seats to it and built a square box for the subs, didnt look anywhere near as nice as this one did.
There was also the Factory Stereo Speaker placement for 1971-1972 trucks, right below the door panels.
