315 75 R16 Load Range E

I need new sneakers and want to go back to a load range E because my wife is looking at 5th wheel trailers and I know how this is going to end! lol

So far I've looked at Firestone Destination A/T, M/T, a Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac, and two Dick Cepek tires.

Anyone running these in this size and have any reviews or suggestions on E rated's in this size?

Thanks,

Mike

I've been running the BFG A/T's in "D"s, but just recently bought a set of Duratrac's in "E"s. My buddies have been running them in 18 & 20" wheels and seem to be holding up well. I don't have any miles on mine yet so I can't personally comment, but from what I've seen they are fairing way better than the MTR's.

I too have been and still running BFG's in "D" but I am currently in the market for a set of these.

Kelly Tires | Safari TSR

I have heard alot of good things about them. They were not my first choice (first was duratrac's but on a national back order as of right now.)

Have you thought about the Toyo MTs? They have an E rated 315/75/16. I tow my 5th wheel with 35x12.5x17 Toyo MTs have have been very pleased with them.

The Toyo MT is one of the most expensive tires available! Alot of people run them though...

On a side note, I got a $60 rebate from Goodyear for buying 4.

iv been running dunlop fierce attitude(made by goodyear) for 20k miles and they or just showing wear.
mine or 315-75-16 . they or 10 ply e rated.
they look like and or the same tread pattern as duratrack but much larger lugs.
iv been happy with them so far. i lease an 80 achre farm and drive all over it pulling a trailer with tractor and they do good in the mud and soft ground,
on the road there not to load when new and with wear there only a little louder, but they or a heavy a/t and i expected them to be much louder.
i hope to get at least 50k out of them with rotation every oil change (5k miles)
i had pererri scorpions before and they were good road tires then a set of toyo open country. both were good but when the time comes ill go back with the fierce attitude.
they wear good and cost was not bad. got mine at a local shop i think for $1100 with road hazard.
hope this helps

I'm running the BFG's now but they don't make that in E rated in the size I want. I had a set of Goodyears on the truck when I bought it and they lasted 17000 mile before the tread was gone. Makes me a little gun shy on them now.

I've consistantly gotten about 60,000 miles out of every BFG I've put on the trucks I've owned. I just wish they made them in Load E.

Like I said I'm looking for opinions and hopefully there are some guys out there that have wore a set of these out and can offer help.

Thanks for the suggestions, keep them coming.

I ran the Kelly Safari 315's in E rating on my 99 and loved them. Didn't get to run them but about a year but was impressed with the ride and wear. Will probably go with them on my new truck when time comes around.

60K is alot on a diesel truck. We are lucky to see 40-50K. A buddy has 35x12.50R20 Duratrac's on his Dirtymax w/ 25K miles and they still look brand new. Can't blame ya for being gun shy though...

Seems like you have to step down to 285's for E rating or different wheel size...

I have 315-75-16E DuraTracs and am very pleased with them. I have hauled my boat ~6k lbs and this trailer ~7k lbs and no issues, they handle great, grip excellent, and stop very well. Nothing but good things to say about them.....and MADE IN THE USA!

i run Destination A/T 285-75-16 E tires got almost 30k miles on them and there only about 1/3 worn to the ware bars. hold the weight good and you cant here them on the road, they do fare in the mud could do better. i tow mostly bumper pull but they can go as high as 17000lbs.

Don't go by the D or E load rating on a tire go by the actual weight rating on it. Some D's have a heaver weight rating than some E's

Hey Mike, you know I think your truck looks great. I just want to give you a heads up to keep in mind that every little bit your truck is raised over stock height is going to make towing a new 5th wheel more and more challenging. I just had my 5th wheel lifted 2.5" just so I could keep everything level while towing and I only have a leveling kit and 285's. Good luck.

Running Goodyear Duratracks 285-75-16 E on my 03 F250 PSD FX4. Good tire, has more road noise than the BFG AT's I ran but it is considered a cross between mud and all-terrian. Because they are considered all-terrian tires the tread wears quickly under loads. I only get about 35k to 40k out of either BFG or Goodyear.
